Sanjo city is located in the middle of Niigata prefecture. With the opening of Tsubamesanjo station on the Joetsu shinkansen line and Sanjotsubame interchange on the Hokuriku express way, the time required between Sanjo and the Metropolitan area or the Kansai district has been remarkably shortened. Besides, as Niigata International Airport is located in Niigata, a nearby city, it's possible to make a day trip to Sanjo from those economic blocs. Furthermore the Shinetsu line and the Yahiko line (JR local lines) and Route 8, Route 289 and Route 403 (national roads) are running through Sanjo along with other main roads, providing good transportation, which is the key to industrial development.
